I am alternating my days with 5 and 4 miles. I started doing work outs also. This leads me into my first race/workout. I ran ~3.25 miles in 21.17 which was a little disapointing, cause I never thought i would see a time like that. Doesnt mean im done though. Actually with my new learning about running I see this as a very good beginning. The conditions were heavy rain, about 50 degrees. I had cereal and a banana. The race its self was muddy in parts, but most of it was made of good gravel. the course was filled with meny uphills and down hills. My warmup consited of 10 minutes in the rain. The major thing I noticed was that my leggs felt fine for the whole race. It was my heart and lungs that couldnt keep up with me. This tells me I need to work on my tempo running, which was evident since i have only started doing harder workouts. The other thing was my audiogenics. I was focused on everything else but my focus on my form. I concentrated on who was passing me and how far up the person was in front of me. I think If i concentrate my workouts while enforcing my audiogenics I should be better in the future. So, lets see what happens this week. Overall the results showed me where I need my work, and I am glad I can now pinpoint why or how to try to fix my findings.

Fast Run 9/21/05

Todays run was...well maybe to fast, but felt real good to feel that again. I started with a 1 mile warm-up. Then streched, my legs right behind the knees felt tight and soar. Im not sure if it was due to my butt kicks or starting the side kicks. I started the run and opend up the first mile in 7.21, 7.15, 7.18, and 6.59. This was all marked, I did it on my highschool cross country course. Now I will rest a few and do some shadow boxing later tonight. That should take care of the night and get me into tommorrows run.

Morning Thought

In order to become stronger and unserstand your self better, you should find what makes you weak and gives you fear. I practiced the side kicks standing still, then went into the quick advance side kick. It felt good to kick again, I felt slow but power full. My balance was good nto great, but thats what practice is for. Over all it was a good practice night. I did some but kick drills, and just kept repaeting side kick after side kick after side kick. Just feeling my body and trying to feel what feels good and ackward. Almost perfect weather except for the muugy part. Again I worked on my arm swing and again I cam back faster on the out and back run, but this time only 20 seconds. I found some good trails, but there isnt many paths to go about that I saw that i could do withing my time limit. Today I ran 3 miles (24 minutes). My breathing needs some work, but this all will come with time. I think after tommorrow I will concentrate more on my legs part of the game. I lifted with my arms endurance. Then I went to go start my Martial arts training tonight. I finally get to start kicking, I was going to start doing side kicks. Well, one thing...I have no gym so my fiance and I have to go outside. Well, there were 5 BILLION mosquitos out there. Now because of this stupid bug, people around here are ding from Tripple E and West Nile. Whats up with this? Since when cant I go outside and enjoy myself. Soon we will be confined to our houses and cant leave cause of the filth thats being spread around. I am so upset....Good thing my Fiance has a place she found that we can go and practice, but its inside. I like to go outside, we sit inside over half of our lives. I want some fresh air, and now i cant because of stupid mosquitos. I say we make them extinct, who needs them....there are plenty other bugs out there that bats can eat. I wouldnt miss a mosquito, would you? Id swat every last one of them if i could. Okay im done complaining, I hope my martial arts workout goes better tommorrow. Till then....I guess i rest till tommorrows run 3 miles.

NoonRun9/19/05

Todays practice I still concentrated on arm swing, but today it didnt feel as smooth. The hills were definitly something else. We did a total of 40 minutes the first 20 stop and go sprinting here and there to cheer on the team and the last 20 was continuouse. My achilies didnt hurt, and i just felt my right one a little after running. I should be fine. The nest time we will se them will be at the Alumni race, that should be fun. Fr-day for Friday and Run for running. These days I run as slow as possible and actually enjoy the run from start to finish. Today i did the three miles(24 minutes) and again concentrated on my arm swing, I feel as if i alomst got it down. My achliies ach a little bit, let see how they feel in tommorrows run, if they hurt I will lay off...if not I will try to do 4-5 miles. I messaged my leg this morning and felt good. When running i tried concentraiting on my arm swing. I kept ranting to my self...."Trigger, Trigger, Breath Fly....". The trigger part (pulling my elbo back) workes great. The breathing i still have to work on. I did three miles (24 minutes)...actualy i timed the last mile staying at the pace i was. I ran it about 7:30 or faster. I fell like in a week I should have the arm swing down. No martial arts tonight, just a busy day to put that in there. Hopefully tommorrow will be different. Need to get in the grove of things again. I am reading an awsome book called "Programed to Run". I am in the process of changing my running form as well as building up my base. I figure if im going to make any changes to my running might was well be when im starting again. I tried changing my whole form at once, it was impossible to do. There was just to much to focus on at a constant pace. So, after about a half mile i tried just concentraiting on my arm swing. It is going to take a while I can see. I have faitht hough i feel after two or three weeks i should get it down. I also tried concentraiting on belly breathing. That is rough cause i am used to gasping for all and any air i can consume. After I get those down i can then concentrate on the 4 phases of the leg movement. My legs feel heavy today after the fact. I did not do anything else for the day, hopefully tommorrow will feel a little easier.....

Martial Arts Night Workout

9/13/05 Night Workout...

@ 6 we wieghtlifted with our legs, but doing strength lifting. The hard part is feeling the flow of footwork while moving and punching and keeping the legs in the on-guard position. I think more of this type of shadow boxing and mit drills will help. I lifted my upper body using endurance. I have moved my weight up from last month. I felt it in some of the muscles, but others coped real well with the upping. Each month I test my self to see my progress. I also jump roped 3 rounds of 1 min. 30 sec w/ 1 min. rest ( I also upped this from 1 min. rounds). I worked on my footwork today. I concentrated on the circling left and right and side stepping left and right. I have just now completed all the footwork I deem necessary for martial arts. Among the ones I mentioned I also have been working on front and back shuffle, forward and back advance, forward and backward burst, and legs switching. Tomorrow's a new day and new training.

Afternoon Run 9/12/05

Running in the Afternoon....

I did a four miler today at 1:00. I say four but, since i dont have anything mapped out i always do my milage X 8:00 (I figure i will not run slower than 8 minute miles, if i am then it means i must be sick.) So 32 minutes was my pace. I was looking for some hills and some flat ground with grass in order to do my workouts when the time comes. I found a great hill, but i did not have any grass. It was a good run, and I can tell i havent been running meny hills cause i was dieng going up it. I will be posting workouts and progress in running and in Martial arts. I also am here to learn as much of the outside world and what is going on. So, if people are interested I'm open to all types of advice and I'm willing to give some too. What I hope to do, is look back on this and see how I have progressed throughout life. The first thing I have to mention is that I am getting married to a wonderful and beautiful person on July 9, 2006. I can not wait!!!
My current interest is in American history and learning about it, so if anyone has some great books that they can refer me to, I would appreciate it. The other pursuit is getting back into running. Right now I am up to 3 1/2 miles a day. I used to be able to do 16 miles a day! I happened to get depressed in the winter and stopped my running and actually stopped for a year. I then got into martial arts particularly Tae Kwon Do. With the wedding coming up though, I have had to give it up at the belt level of blue belt with a red stripe. I hope to go back after the wedding when I don't have to save as much and soon. So, now I am running on my own and training in martial arts with my fiance.
So, if anyone has any thing they want to discuss I am open to it. I have been to 5 tournaments fought 8 people in them and my record is 6 wins 2 losses. My best times in track in cross country are 1/2 mile 2:16, 1 mile 4:15, 5k 16:30, 8K 27:30, 10k 33:00. Now I'm lucky if I can do a mile in 6 minutes. That's a little about my self. Now I will be posting my workouts and questions and comments. I hope to hear from people.
